Atomic 4 Engines Rebuilt by DYS
Model 5101 Direct - Redondo Beach
DYS acquired a 28’ Newport sailboat about 15 years ago.
Its Atomic 4 engine was frozen, and DYS replaced it with
a rebuilt engine. After several changes in ownership, the
current owners brought the engine back to DYS for
another rebuild, based on the good comments about DYS
in the captain’s log, made by the prior owners.
Model 5101 Direct - San Pedro
A leaking exhaust manifold resulted in engine failure. The
owner contracted DYS to assist with removal of the
existing engine, and to re-manufacture another Atomic 4,
including all the necessary parts to replace his engine. A
bronze block was selected for overhaul, re-manufactured,
test run, and installed.
Model 5103 V-Drive - Long Beach
DYS was contracted by the owner to re-manufacture his
Atomic 4 sailboat engine. DYS removed and re-
manufactured the engine and V-Drive, and test ran the
engine, and then returned it to the owner. The gloss
white and blue paint made for a very beautiful engine.
Model 5102 Reduction - Marina del Rey
This reduction gear engine was brought to DYS by its mechanic
for a total rebuild, after salt water got inside and froze the
engine. DYS did a complete teardown, and replaced the parts
that did not survive. After rebuild, the engine was test run prior
to returning it to the mechanic.
Model 5101 Direct - Long Beach
This beautiful engine came to DYS, after it ate a piston
and connecting rod. The engine had been recently
rebuilt by others, but it was removed and completely dis-
assembled and rebuilt again by DYS, with existing and
replacement parts, and then test run, and re-installed.
